Through innovative partnerships and in consultation with schools, we are providing easily accessible and reliable local history materials linked to the national curriculum. Online resources including units of work, time lines and historical resource material will be available through our ‘Schools Learning Zone’ (available January 2009) to show how local history can be used creatively across subject areas.
Throughout our projects, children are getting ‘hands-on’ experience exploring their local history and relating the past with the present day. Our programme supports the Learning Outside the Classroom Manifesto and encourages learning from Key Stage 1 – 3.
Our partners to date include museums, artists, storytellers and record offices. We don’t believe in duplication so we try to research and encourage partnerships with organisations doing similar or with the potential to deliver, therefore encouraging sustainable resources.
